The FG Foundation is seeking the services of a qualified consultant to lead the development and implementation of the BCDR plan.

The successful proponent will collaborate with our management and IT contractor to provide the following services:

Review of existing systems, tools, infrastructure, and vendor arrangements (including Microsoft 365, SurveyMonkey, cloud-based server, etc.).

Identification and prioritization of risks, including IT disruptions, natural disasters, loss of key personnel and vendor or operational failures.

Gap analysis of existing business continuity processes (if any).

Business Continuity Strategy/Policy (critical functions during any disruption, recovery time objectives, recovery point objectives).

Disaster Recovery Strategy/Policy (data backup, system restoration, cloud recovery).

Communication protocols during a disruption, including escalation paths and stakeholder notifications.

Plan for coordination with external vendors and service providers.

Clear, step-by-step playbooks to operationalize the BCDR strategy across IT and organizational functions.

Recommendations for practical tools and solutions appropriate for a small team and limited IT support.

Simple templates or checklists for internal use (e.g., emergency contacts, vendor lists, outage response, personnel coverage in case of personnel loss).

Staff training session (virtual or in-person) on the BCDR Plan.

At least one tabletop exercise or scenario walkthrough.

Guidance for periodic testing and plan updates.

The successful consultant must fulfill the following mandatory requirements:

Proven experience developing BCDR plans for small organizations or non-profits

Strong knowledge of cloud-based platforms (e.g., Microsoft 365, SurveyMonkey, cloud servers) and IT disaster recovery practices

Familiarity with Canadian data privacy and cybersecurity best practices

Ability to deliver a practical, actionable plan suited to limited internal IT capacity

Strong communication skills and ability to train non-technical staff

Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and working within a fixed budget and timeline

The following timeline outlines key milestones in the selection and audit process:

Draft BCDR plan delivered - By November 28, 2025

Review and feedback - By December 12, 2025

Final Plan delivered - By January 16, 2026

Staff training & tabletop exercise - By January 30, 2025

A summary of the consultant profile and qualification

A description of the proposed services and the consultant’s understanding of the FG Foundation’s needs

Fee schedule, including a breakdown of hours and rates by staff level

References from at least two previous similar project

REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL (RFP) Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) Plan

The successful firm must have an in-depth experience in providing audit services to indigenous nonprofit organizations and charities, with a strong understanding of Indigenous culture and values.

The FG Foundation is a registered charity. The FG Foundation is for First Nations individuals, communities, organizations, and other organizations seeking support for cultural revitalization, education, and community development initiatives. As stewards of the IRSSA funds and fundraiser, we ensure efficient allocation of funds to address the harms of residential schools. Our grant funding addresses these challenges, providing financial support for educational pursuits, healing projects, and cultural revitalization efforts, empowering individuals, communities, and organizations to address long-term harms and promote reconciliation.

The FG Foundation grants approximately $15 million in funding to individuals and charitable organizations for varying education programs and studies every year. The accounting function is performed by in-house staff, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll functions. The FG Foundation uses SAGE 300 ERP to maintain the accounts. The audited financial statements are reviewed by the Finance, Audit and Investment Committee and approved by the Board of Trustees.

The FG Foundation is seeking the services of a qualified audit firm to perform the annual audit of its financial statements. The engagement will require the provision of an audit opinion in accordance with Canadian Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS). The engagement includes:

A pre-audit review, typically conducted in January;

Year-end substantive audit fieldwork, typically beginning in June; and

Prepare T3010 Registered Charity Information Return.

The successful audit firm must fulfill the following mandatory requirements:

Demonstrate expertise in auditing not-for-profit and charitable entities, including familiarity with applicable accounting standards and reporting requirements.

Have proven experience in auditing organizations with substantial investment portfolios, including understanding of investment accounting, valuation, and disclosures.

Provide evidence of the firm's financial stability and a demonstrated long-term commitment to serving not-for-profit and charitable organizations, including a client base with similar organizational profiles.

Draft financial statements to FAIC for review - End of June

Draft financial statements to Board for approval - Early July

Final audited financial statements published - Early July

Preference will be given to well-established firms located in the National Capital Region. The Finance, Audit, and Investment Committee will review the proposals and recommend an appointment to the Board of Trustees for approval. Interviews may be conducted if deemed necessary.

REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL (RFP) Annual Financial Statement Audit Services

The Future Generations Foundation invites proposals from qualified legal firms for the provision of legal services with a specialty in litigation, to support the FGF in a petition to the courts to modify the Indian Residential School Settlement Agreement (IRSSA) and support the board and committees.

The successful candidate(s) will offer advice and based on sound legal advice according to FGF’s legal rights and obligations, prepare legal documents, represent FGF and its employees during litigation (, cross communicate with other interested parties in the IRSSA.

As stewards of the IRSSA funds, we ensure efficient allocation of funds to address the harm of residential schools. Our First Nation led organization practices First Nations principles and values in our policies and decision-making processes, prioritizing meaningful economic assistance that creates lasting, positive change.

The Future Generations foundation grants significant funds from the IRSSA, under the terms and conditions and administrative plan. FGF has been granting from this settlement agreement since 2015. FG Foundation returned to the courts in 2018 and was successfully awarded the requested changes, however FGF would like to return in 2025-2026 for further changes.

a) Review the original court approved Indian Residential Settlement agreements and all related documents. 

b) Provided analysis, recommendations, and advice for proposed amendments.

c) Prepare all necessary court document and filings. 

d) Represent the foundation in court processed and communication with counsel, if required.

e) Familiarity with the legal and historical context of court-supervised agreements, including those related to Indigenous reparations or class-action settlements.

The final version of the motion and affidavit should clearly reflect FG Foundation vision, goals for the long-term future.

The successful bidder will work closely with the Executive Director and/or members of our Board of Directors, stakeholders, to develop the specific details of the planning process, including the timeline, and logistics.

To make the evaluation process efficient and obtain maximum comparability, FG Foundation requires that all responses to the RFP be organized in the manner and format described below: 

A description of the understanding of the work to be performed including estimated hours, the ability to perform the work within the time period provided and other pertinent information.

Description how the Proponent’s firm will approach the proposed services including the type of assistance that will be required from FG Foundation staff. Proposal should also discuss the proponent’s knowledge and experience of work with Indigenous clients and organizations. Finally, discuss the communication process used by the firm to discuss issues with management including the expected timeline.

A description of the firm’s history, expertise and could include an explanation of the firm’s philosophy, size, structure, and qualifications with serving Indigenous non-profit organizations with a comparable size and operations. Team Qualifications of the specific legal team assigned to this engagement. Familiarity with the legal and historical context of court-supervised agreements, including those related to Indigenous reparations or class-action settlements.

The consultant must disclose any conflicts of interest that may result from the award of the contract, or the services provided under the contract and state the firm’s independence contract, aspect to FG Foundation.

D. Fees 
Fee structure for the full duration of the project including any guarantees given regarding increases in future years. Also, the applicable billing rates and procedures for any further questions that may come up during the engagement.

E. References 
A list of the relevant Indigenous and or non-profit, charitable clients the firm has served within the past three years that would be willing to provide a reference upon request of FG Foundation. 

FG Foundation will employ a comprehensive set of criteria to determine the most suitable consultant. Considering the pivotal objectives delineated in this document, the assessment of proposals will be grounded in the following criteria:

C. Transparent, cost-effective competitive fee structure. (25%)
